Here's the scoop on where the locals go to eat—low key and just the right amount of local atmosphere. First stop—just walk down the hill and eat dinner at the Cafe Rio, or get a coffee in the morning at the coffee shop, there's a mom-and-pop, and the beloved Pixie Deli (best grilled salmon sandwich). Eat your fish sandwich outside at a table with an ocean view...or walk across the street and sit on the beach. Within a mile, eat classic Mexican at Manuel's (35 years and going strong). Indian at Ambrosia (great buffet lunch), superior chinese at the Panda Inn. Cafe Sparrow, Bittersweet Bistro, Mangiamo Pizza, Barolo at the Bay View Hotel, Palapas, Sushi On The Run, Severinos, Brittania Arms. Yes! All of our favorites.

Grocery shopping! Right on—cook at home and shop here at the top notch Deluxe Foods in the Deer Park Marketplace on Rio Del Mar Blvd. Just drive up the hill, you won't be sorry!

There's more! Aptos Farmers Market, one of the 10 best farmers markets in California is right next door in Aptos at Cabrillo College. There'll be signs all around Cabrillo College, on Soquel Drive, directing you. Very fun thing to do on a Saturday morning, everyone's there—go and be seen! This is the premier farmers market on the Central Coast, not to be missed.
